Community
Thaxted Churches Together
Thaxted Churches Together includes our Baptist church, the Anglican Parish Church and the United Reformed Church, all based within our town. We organise various inter church events which aim to serve the community.
Believers and seekers alike are most welcome to join any of the activities and events organised.
Humfrey Lodge Residential Care Home
Our church members support the residents of Thaxted’s residential care home through holding a service on the 1st Monday of each month, from 10:30 to 11am.
All are welcome.
Humfrey Lodge is located in Rochelle Close, Thaxted, CM6 2PX.
Coffee & Company
If you have been bereaved through the loss of someone close, and would like to meet others who have had similar experiences, please come and join us for coffee and cake between 10.00am and 12.00 on the last Saturday of each month, in the church hall of Thaxted Baptist Church.
We provide each other with mutual support through offering a space to chat with people who understand.

Primary School
The church works closely with the local primary school in the town. The minister regularly takes school assemblies and three times a year classes visit the church. The visits are usually around Christmas, Easter and Harvest and include seasonal craft activities.
Men’s Ministry
The men’s breakfast is a great opportunity for men of all ages to not only enjoy a delicious cooked breakfast, but to discuss topics of the day that are both relevant and timely. The morning begins with a warm welcome and a tea/coffee before sitting down for a cooked breakfast. There is then a short talk on a particular theme followed by a question and answer session.
We meet on the second Saturday of the month starting at 9am except for the months of July, August, January and February.
Please contact Paul Tingey on 07494 757114 for further details.
Craftability
We provide a monthly church service to a local charity known as “Craftability” which provides crafts and other activities to those who are older and lonely
Ladies Choir
Thaxted Baptist Church Ladies Choir was formed in 2017. We are a small group of ladies who sing for pleasure and visit care homes inviting residents to sing along with us. Singing is excellent for mental health and well being. Over the years we have raised money for local and larger well known charities. We regularly have meals out together and enjoy each other’s company on coach trips!
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month 2.00pm – 4.00pm at the Baptist Church Hall and charge a nominal fee. Singing, coffee and cake plus friendship make for a wonderful experience for ladies in the local area. Come and join us you will be made very welcome!

Ladies Craft afternoons
Every quarter, our church hosts a ladies craft afternoon, and all women in the community are warmly welcome.
It’s a relaxed time to make something lovely to take home, enjoy tea and cake and spend the time chatting and being creative together. You don’t need any experience –even if you’ve never tried crafting before, there will be plenty of help and encouragement.
There is also a gentle spiritual reflection but the main focus is friendship, creativity and enjoying time together.
The feedback has been really positive. The ladies tell us they value the fun, friendship and the welcoming atmosphere.
